Intracranial Hemorrhage in Premature Neonates by Ultrasonography

Abstract

Purpose:
@EN Intraventricular hemorrhage is a common neuropathologic finding in premature and low birth weight infants. It is deeply related with neenatal death and neurologic sequelae. We want to know the inciderce and the relating factors of
intracranial
hemorrhage in premature and low birth weight infants.
@ES Methods:
@EN 5 MHz real-time ultrasound scan were used on 184 premature and low birth weight infants who were admitted to the neonatal unit of Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital.
@ES Results:
@EN 1) Out of 185 neonates, intracranial hemorrhage were seen in 84 (45.4%).
@ES Conclusions:
@EN Craniosongraphy should be first diagnostic procedure to prevent ad early detection of intracranial hemorrhage in premature and low birth weight infants.
